Share an HTML Report or Proposal With a Client
A report or proposal built as an HTML file can be sent as a link. This guide says what that gets you, what it does not, and when a different tool is the safer choice.

If you have built a report, a proposal or a status update as an HTML file, a link is easier for a client than an attachment. They click it and read the page in their browser. Our Share HTML tool turns one HTML file into a link with no account, and deletes the page when it expires. Before you send a client anything this way, it helps to know exactly what it does and does not protect.
What this suits
- A draft proposal that a client should read this week and then forget.
- A status report, a dashboard snapshot or a set of results that does not contain private details.
- A prototype or a layout you want a client to look at on their phone or computer.
- A page that is useful for a day or two, where a link that expires is a feature.
What this does not suit
- Anything confidential. Anyone who has the link can read the page, and they can pass the link on.
- Anything that needs a password or that should be visible only to named people. There is no password and no sign-in.
- Contracts, signed documents and financial records. The page is not a secure document store.
- Pages that must last. The longest a page stays online is 7 days.
- Anything you need to track. The tool does not show who opened a page or how often.
If your client needs a private, permanent or tracked document, use a tool made for that. This one is a quick way to get a page in front of someone, and it is built to forget the page soon after.
Prepare the file
The file has to be one self-contained HTML file, up to 1 MB. The viewer runs your page in a sandbox that blocks requests to other web addresses. We tested that on 25 October 2026: a page with its style, image and script inside the file worked, and a page that linked to a stylesheet, a script and an image on other sites lost all three. For a report, that means copying the styles into a style block and embedding any charts or logos inside the file. If a chart is drawn by a script that loads from another site, it will not appear, so bring the script inside or use a chart that is already part of the file.
Also read the file the way a stranger would. Check names, figures, comments in the code, and any link to an internal system. Take out what the client should not see. Anything left in the file can be read by anyone who gets the link.
Send it
- Open the Share HTML page and choose the file.
- Set a link name that does not give anything away. It becomes part of the link, and it can contain only letters, numbers and hyphens.
- Pick the shortest time that works: 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days.
- Tick the box to confirm you may share the file and that it follows the acceptable use rules, then press Upload and get link.
- Save the delete link. We cannot show it again or recover it. Then send the view link to your client.
Open the view link yourself first. Your client will see your page below a banner that says the page was uploaded by a user and has not been reviewed by CompressItAll. Tell them about it in your message, so the banner does not make them think the link is suspicious.
After they have read it
You do not have to wait for the page to expire. Open your delete link and the page is gone, and the view link stops working. If the client asks for a change, delete the page, fix the file and upload it again. You get a new link, so send that one.
What we do with the file
We upload your file to our servers over HTTPS and store it so the link works, and we delete it when it expires or when someone uses the delete link. We do not review pages before they go online. Uploaded pages are marked so that search engines are asked not to list them. The privacy policy has the details and the acceptable use rules list what you may not share.

Frequently asked questions
Can I put a password on the link?
No. Anyone who has the link can read the page. If the report needs a password, use a tool that offers one.
How long can a client read the report?
As long as you chose when you uploaded it: 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days at most. After that the page is deleted and the link stops working.
Can I see who opened the link?
No. This tool does not show visits or tell you who opened a page.
Can I update the report after I send the link?
Not in place. Delete the page with your delete link, fix the file and upload it again. You get a new link, so send that one and tell the client the old one is gone.
Should I share a contract or financial figures this way?
No. Anyone with the link can read the page and can forward it, and we do not review pages. Keep confidential and signed documents out of it.
